Question - Chartgantt Ultimate Only:

Why can't I see the start and finish date information in my Level 1 and Level 2 Tasks?

Answer:

As level 1 and level 2 tasks are summary tasks only, the date information for these tasks is not used.  This is why it has been blanked out.  Level 2 tasks inherit the earliest start date and latest finish date of its level 3 tasks.  Operation is the same as MS Project in this regard.

Any information you enter in a level 3 task will be automatically handled.  If you need to view your level 2 and 3 start and finish dates you can do this by selecting the data sets, click on conditional formatting, manage rules, and remove this rule.

Question:

How do I view dates beyond the 6 month planning window, I have a 2 year project.

Answer:

Update June 2010 - Chartgantt 2.0 enables multiple views of your data, view by day, week, or month.  This enables you to see a much about 3 years of planning data on the one screen.  As always the planning timeframe is not limited.  Plan for 2,000 years if you like!

Original Answer - There is no issue with planning for two years or more, but there may be an issue viewing it in one go, due to the limit on the number of columns in excel.  The model works on the dates you enter, and you can change the planning window by updating the project start date (this does not affect anything other than the time window you view).   If you enter information outside the current time window then it is still there.

Ie if you enter

1 December 2020 to 01 Jan 2021 for a task, then to see it, just update the project start date to perhaps November Firsts 2010

The project start date only controls the window displayed and is not used for any other purpose.
